Unclaimed Property at the Coroner's Office
The Coroner’s Office is attempting to return property that has remained unclaimed at our office. We are in the process of sending letters to the next of kin at the address listed on the death certificate. If you find that your loved one is listed as having unclaimed property at the coroner’s office, please contact our Property Clerk, Chelsie York, by calling our office at (217) 384-3888 to make arrangements to claim the property or tell us to destroy it for you. Property that remains unclaimed after July 30, 2024 may be destroyed or sold at a public sale and the proceeds placed with the Champaign County Treasurer’s Office.
